"eye apologize"

24x36 oil on canvas 2005
Private Collection of Peder & Katie Singleton

This painting was commisioned to accompany a story about a young boy who was riding with his mom on a (now illegal) 3-wheel ATV. The mom was driving and both were having a real swell time. The ride took them through some turns and bumps that distracted them from a quickly approaching barbed wire fence. The mom turned too late and threw the boy, who was riding behind her, head first into the fence. The barb caught the young boy right below his left eye and were it any closer it would have popped the sucker right out. The Mom felt horrible but after a free trip to the hospital, over 100 stitches, an ice cold coke and a blown up surgical glove as a toy, the boy felt just fine. And still totally loves his mommy.   »
